Ok, here it is, the first post. I'm not entirely sure what to put in it, because although it is about the 10 marathons in 10 days challenge, and my training and fundraising activities, it doesn't seem like I've got that much to write at the moment.
Training, I have been trying to keep to an approximate 10 miles a day of running on treadmills during the week with a long run outdoors on Sunday. I've also been using elliptical training machines and stepper machines in the gym on occasional weekdays for 20-30 mins, generally making the total cardiovascular effort on weekdays 60-90 minutes. I suppose I might need to start upping this soon, or least investigate what sort of daily routing other people who have completed this have done to prepare to find out if I'm doing enough.
Fundraising... I definitely need to get my skates on here. The justgiving URL will definitely be going in all this years Christmas cards, and I am trying to think of any fundraising ideas which I can come up with which won't necessarily ask for a straight donation, but might involve a prize or service, e.g. carwashing, or a raffle.

Merry Christmas Mark, look forward to meeting up with you in May for the challenge - sadly due to other commitments i can't make the weekend at Windermere in January.
ReplyDeleteLooking at your training i have to say you're putting in more than I am,but i have no idea how much I should be putting in ?
On the fundraising side of things i know what you mean about trying to be a bit clever, just asking for cash with nothing in return isn't always that easy. I saw that Sports direct were selling england shirts for a fiver so bought up an Owen,Lampard & Rooney & sent them to the respective clubs for signing, i got just the Owen back but was able to raffle it making £96 towards the pot. I have also been lucky requesting donations from sports clubs, I had donated 4 tickets for a days racing at Ascot, signed Surrey cricket bat, tickets for Leicestershire,Warwickshire,Somerset & Lancashire, a golf day for 4 people at a local course & football tickets to MK Dons, Northampton & musseum tour tickets for Anfield. Cost a few quid in stamps, but worth it, i found it works well to throw in a photo of yourself running just shows your serious & sets you apart from other similar letters.
Best wishes
David
